A reviving cordial for a sin-sick despairing soul in the time of temptation: the same being an extract of the unworthy authors experience of the particular following / by: Barry, James. Published: (). Display Title: Physician of my [the] sin sick soul First Line: Physician of my [the] sin sick soul Author: John Newton Date: The Christian Hymn Book (Ohio Auglaize Christian Conference) #d The Christian Hymn-Book (Corr. and Enl., 3rd. ed.) #

Jesus came to heal the whole person, body and soul. In the Church's Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick, through the ministry of the priest, it is Jesus who touches the sick to heal them from sin – and sometimes even from physical ailment. His cures were signs of the arrival of the Kingdom of God. Sickness is to the body what sin is to the spirit and soul, but we have complete redemption from both in Christ! Sin is the outplay of our loss of the Way, the Truth and the Life at the Fall, leaving the core of his being in a broken, sin-sick state. Physical sickness is the playing out in the body of that sin-sick state.

To Heal the Sin Sick Soul I wish to reclaim one of the ancient purposes of the church – to heal the sin sick soul. For too long we who self-identify as “progressive” have allowed our flock to fall ill and convulse, as we argue the merits of the linguistics of sin. Yes, my friends, sin does exist. I .   Then when the despairing thoughts still come in say a Hail mary or a rosary as Our Lady will stamp on the devil’s head. Go for confession afert the mortal sin as soon as you can. Also i strongly recommend reading a little book called The book of confidence by Father Thomas de Saint-Laurent which you can find in Amazon. Fear Not God loves you.

And apart from a miracle of God, there is no cure for sin just as until recently there was no medicine for leprosy. The narrative of Naaman in our text is a fitting picture of how God cleanses the sin-sick soul. The Soul who Sins will Die 19 Yet you may ask, ‘Why shouldn’t the son bear the iniquity of his father?’ Since the son has done what is just and right, carefully observing all My statutes, he will surely live.

to Barry’s Testimonial Treatise, entitled, A Reviving Cordial for a Sin-Despairing Soul.} TO THE IMPARTIAL READER. Courteous Reader, I am to inform thee, that in the time of the Popish government, when Popery and Quakerism smiled so amicably on each other, as the two religions, if I might so call them, which are nearest of kin of all.

That the Preachers would emphasize once again the One and Only Remedy for the sin-sick soul; that is, the Blood of Jesus. That the Church would forever raise her voice in praise for the Blood that makes the sinner whole again.

There is no other solution. I am not despairing right now, in fact I am mentally on the upswing from a 4 month despairing period just passed. But I need to go to Confession and honestly the only thing I have done that could be considered mortal sin I did from this despair I had. And it is not the first time.

And I have considered suicide in the past. I desire trust from My creatures. Encourage souls to place great trust in My fathomless mercy. Let the weak, sinful soul have no fear to approach Me, for even if it had more sins than there are grains of sand in the world, all would be drowned in the unmeasurable depths of My mercy.

But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us. We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus. No matter the time or the trouble, the suffering soul has but to cry out to the Lord, and He will remove the plague of sin and restore health unto his soul.

God has command over all - even that which is killing or destroying the sinner. The Lord Jesus simply has to give the command, and the disease of sin will depart.
